[identity profile] shipm-mod.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] ship_manifesto
Rumours of the deaths of the moderators here at [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto have been greatly somewhat exaggerated. At least one of us still breathes, occasionally - we usually take it in turns. ;) Meatlife had been soul-sucking for both of us in recent months, but hopefully that will soon change... for the better!

We do apologise for the lack of attention this comm has recently received, and to show our appreciation of everyone who's still hanging around waiting for us to do something, we're going to let you do something. :D

I DECLARE A FREE MONTH!!!

Short on time, but still want to sing the praises of your favorite OTP/OT3/OT4? Step right up! Be creative! There are absolutely no rules, other than respecting each other, behaving in an adult manner, and using an lj-cut.

You can write as much or as little as you want to, add screencaps or not, quote scenes that make you squee. It really is up to you. A post here is basically saying "This is why I love x/y and why you should too." How about the top twenty reasons why 'blank' deserves better, but you still can't help shipping them together? Maybe there's not much - or any! - actual canon for your crazy crossover pairing, but you want to tell everyone why Faith Lehane(Buffy)/Dean Winchester(Supernatural) is the best pairing ever? This is the time and the place to do it.

"Free Month" runs for the rest of the month of May and all of June! Someone should be around to approve posts on a daily basis, to prevent any possible flist logjams. *g*

Anyone who has already commented on the sign-up list is free to post their manifesto as and when they are ready, up to the end of June. If anyone requires longer than that, please let me know at the signup post, and you will be assigned a suitable date.

Let the festivities commence! :D

A question! Could you do two, in that case? A more formal, structured one, then one of the, er, less-structured ones?

Woo-hoo yayy for the lovely mods^^ Just for this lovely post I'm going to pimp my own ship_manifesto that I put up that sadly got overlooked because other posts came flooding in right after it.

Hopefully pimping isn't against the rules, if it is just let me know mods :)

So, for free month do we still comment on the sign up post?

Silly question, but- can someone write more than one manifesto? :D For different pairings, of course.

Would it not be possible to do away with the moderated posting? To be honest, I find it to be a huge deterrent.

The last time I made a post to a moderated community, I screwed up the HTML royally. And since you can't edit posts that have been submitted for approval, I was stuck waiting for it to go up. The moderator took two weeks to approve my post, and -- since you don't get notified, short of manually keeping an eye on the community -- I didn't even notice it had gone up until the day after. It was just a really shitty experience, and put me off moderated communities entirely.

Just a thought, of course. But it'd be a good way to keep this place alive -- especially since you say you're both busy with RL and sometimes unable to approve posts regularly.

And that in turn puzzles me, as I've never received any notifications of the sort -- whether it's two weeks later or just mere hours. I've never actually had a post outright refused though, so I can't say anything about that.

In any case, sorry to hear that you're so set in your stance (I was going to suggest polling the community if you were uncertain, but I guess there's no point to that now). I personally don't see why someone would be a member in the first place if they're so sensitive and prone to being "scarred for life" -- but hey, again, that's just my opinion. I thought the community originally switched to moderated posting due to spam issues, though?

I have a question Mods. I posted my Inutaisho/Sesshomaru manifesto to this community but unfortunately it seems I posted it at a time when alot of other manifestos were flooding the community and so my manifesto was sadly overlooked and had no comments. :( With that said would it be okay if I deleted it and reposted it so it could be at the front of the page and get at least 1 comment....

Are we allowed to do rpf posts? The rpf manifesto comm is pretty dead right now.

^^ I've been thinking about writing something for the longest time, but this community has always intimidated me. ^^; Maybe now I'll actually do something. Free Month definitely sounds like a good idea. =)

Is it ok to write free-style, why we love such and such or do we need to follow a certain outline or something. My friend and I were thinking of doing one together and posting it. If we get the courage lol

Date: 2011-05-24 10:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com
Free month is a free-for-all. Outlines go out of the window every year, around this time, so feel free to write or co-write whatever best expresses the love in your shippy hearts. *g*

Grasp your courage in both hands and go for it!
