Out of curiosity and general concern over preparedness... have the fabulous mods of this wonderful community made a backup of its content lately?

Hey there! I finally get to properly thank you for the incredible support you've given this community over the past couple of years. Thank you so much!

And I've been trying to back-up the community for the past two days, but it's just NOT WORKING. LJ Archive keeps giving me errors and I haven't had the time to use the LJ Export feature. Would you be willing to back it up for me and send it to me in a file? I'd be eternally grateful. I'm in the process of creating a central archive to house content for all the communities I manage in the real near future, but I'm having the hardest time of it right now.

I'm on a Mac, and just figured out how to use XJournal to download my whole personal journal a few hours ago. My old WinXP PC is no longer fit to access the internet, so I can't use LJArchive on it any more, which is how I used to accomplish that.

I haven't yet managed to back up a community. Is LJ Export supposed to work for that?

Yes, but it's a slow process. You have to back up each month and we've been open for almost three years. I mean it's not like it will take forever to do, more like I haven't had the time to properly to undertake it. I'll just do what I can each day until it's all backed up. I've also heard that the material that is saved is all jumbled and terribly hard to read. *le sigh* What you gonna do? *G*

I can't seem to get XJournal to log me in to my communities, only individual journals. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with it.

But I just LJ Exported a couple months of sturmtanzer as a test. They save as .csv files that I can view in Excel. It's not great, but the data's there and looks like it might be in an OK format to import into some other format.

I'm headed to bed now because OMG it's 4am, but I'll be online again tonight (8pm-ish Pacific Time) and can spend a few hours a night on this until it's done if needed.
