Hi! redbird here. What you've done is truly fabulous. I am in awe of your sheer energy and dedication in getting this out. And it made such a lovely reading. I especially like what you wrote about the way Kai and Takao encouraged each other during the Euro challenge. Your characterisation was spot on. But can I just add something more to what you've said about Kai? In Season 1, he was all that you described him and a lot more too, but you forgot to add that he had a terrific sense of responsibility. He was probably arm-twisted into joining the team but he took his role as a team leader seriously and even though he cribbed constantly about being a glorified baby-sitter, he did look after his team. Remember his dramatic rescue of Max in America, his way of egging Rei on during the latter's match against Mariah? He may not have been on backslapping terms with his teammates but he understood them enough to know just which buttons to press to get results from them. Kai was a bit of an anti-hero but he earned his team-mates' respect.
