Agreed. Completely. I see no evidence, even with all the quotes presented in this essay, that suggest they have a sexual attraction. I think the quote about Al wanted Ed's warmth/touch was not a sexual longing, but rather a longing for human sensations and contact, which he feels exceedingly more and more cut off from throughout the series.
