I was a B/A 'shipper in the early days before I even knew what a 'shipper was; it was the first romance on the show, it was the first tragedy; what's not to love? If I became less so over time, it doesn't change the memory of the shock of watching Angel turn or the tears I shed during Becoming or when Buffy's perfect day ended.
