I may not be the biggest fan of Ken/Omi (I'm actually the strangest Ken/Aya fan you'll meet), but I'll be the first to admit that it's the most obvious shounen ai pairing in Weiß Kreuz (besides the weird canon one from the Dramatic Precious albums). I've only written one Ken/Omi fic, and that was for my sister who is a nice Ken/Omi fan.
I'm not sure the pairing can work after Glühen, because, like you said, Ken doesn't seem to like Mamoru very much. However, any time before that is perfect. Even I squeed at that scene in episode fourteen when Ken had his head on Omi's lap. (The creators were so catering to the yaoi fangirls then.)
So the point of this comment? Ken/Omi is a nice pairing, and your essay definitely shows that.
