I watched Road to El Dorado a few years ago (if my timing isn't off), long before I knew there was a thing such as "homoeroticism", and found it sweet - definitely one of Disney's better movies at the time. After reading your essay (which is, btw, amazing), I have an urge to go watch it again, because everything you've written rings true at one level or another.
As for the fandom, =D I'll go read, and maybe after I watch the movie again, write. All in all, it seems like a pairing that a lot can really be done with, from past to present to future. Great job on the essay, thanks for the reminder that [good] Disney movies like this still exist~
