Kudos to you for writing this essay! :) The subtext between those two always made me a happy little 'shipper, and Hayes's death in Countdown had me convinced that Berman and Braga were really out to get my 'ships (they've shot them down. Every last one. I mean, what? Do they have a grudge against me or something?). Glad to see I'm not the only 'shipper out there. Will definitely be looking into those fics. Thanks! :)
