I find that Oda does have his share of inconsistencies throughout the manga, ranging from lines that seem OOC and even wrong illustrations ( such as Crocodile being drawn with two hands, and Zoro with the wrong blind eye). This is one of them which is rather puzzling. Zoro, of all people, would never use gender as a reason for him, or the enemy for that matter, to go easy on. Still, it was probably Oda's way of implying that Zoro has his limits when it comes to violence, and it depicted that Zoro has a tender side. The way he gently held Robin's head so she wouldn't hit the ground is really something more along Sanji's character- so it was interesting to see Zoro do it. It really softened Zoro's character, made us see him in a different light. I personally liked the Zoro/Robin vibes I was getting from Skypeia, they have very interesting potential.
Yesss, Thriller bark, there's a lot to look into, and I won't say much yet because im already going to say a lot in the essay already, but my stance is....rather strange. I'm basically going to explore the Luffy-Zoro-Sanji dynamic in here.
