okay, Im back to comment! First of all, beautiful job on the structure of the manifesto. I liked how you set up the differences between Zoro and Sanji so that we can contrast their characters later on.
While Zoro‘s personality is pretty straightforward, Sanji‘s depends strongly on which gender he deals with.
You've pretty much got the gist of it here, yup yup! I liked how it was phrased, haha. Which is why, for me, whenever Sanji treats a guy nicely/politely, I do a double take- because while I know that Sanji will treat everything that is female with the utmost respect, you can never tell with a guy! So when the anime did that thing with Ace and Sanji I can imagine how it set off slash bells ringing.
And I really appreciate how you so nicely lined out the timeline for us ~! I enjoyed looking through the hints, and your manifesto made me realize that Oda *did* give us a lot of ZoSan hints at the very beginning. Such hints are often overlooked because its so early in the manga, so good job at pointing those out! To me, it looks like Oda meant for Zoro and Sanji to be the pair that argues/bickers a lot, but are perfectly in sync when it comes to serious moments/teamwork/combat. Right from the start, that was what he seemed to establish. ( Arlongs Fight! The both of them barely just met and yet they are already working so well together! It's beautifully portrayed. And Sanji's natural tendency to care for others wellbeing is demonstrated wonderfully as he gets distracted in his fight over worrying for Zoro. ) I think that aside from Luffy, Sanji would be the first crew member Zoro can actually rely on for backup. And yes, Sanji did take an abnormal amount of interest in Zoro- being a guy who only claims to be interested in ladies, this is quite something, haha.
Oh oh gosh, the Okama thing! I think that it's probably the closest Sanji has ever come to complimenting Zoro! Obviously, Sanji cannot compliment Zoro without insulting him at the same time, and vice versa. I don't know if you consider this canon by the way, but in ReportTime!, which is a oneshot Oda did where a reporter interviews the crew on their life before Sanji, Zoro actually compliments Sanji's cooking. He says this, "Yes, it's the only thing he's good at ( Zoro referring to Sanji's cooking ), so he better keep it up". Sanji goes all shark teeth and retorts, "WHAT?" It's super cute, haha. So it's cute how they both cannot compliment each other without insulting each other.
I like how as I read the Alabasta hints, it got me thinking about how Zoro can get such a massive reaction out of Sanji by uttering the simplest things, such as "Prince", haha. And that there are certain moments where they can get along! ( Sitting beside each other, finishing each others sentences....and there are certain artworks which depict them getting along fine too :) ) But those are only the cutesy moments. When it comes to moments with real punch, I am very glad that this manifesto has reminded me that they have those too. Especially from Thriller Bark, there is volumes to read from there, and I find myself surprised at Sanji's understanding of Zoro ( his feelings, his wants, his vulnerabiltiy...It is safe to say that Sanji probably understands Zoro better than he understands himself ), despite the both of them bickering half the time.
