I'm thoroughly enjoying reading all these essays even, or especially, for the pairings I'm not instinctively drawn to, because there's something very appealing about looking at them through a fresh, enthusiastic pair of eyes. This was very interesting indeed and I liked the way you set it out.
If I can comment (not to disagree but to add to what you're saying), to this:
The women Connor is drawn to on screen are Cordelia and Illyria. A common trait is that they are both incredibly strong people. Connor is drawn to strength, because it is what has always been expected of him.
I'd add Faith. His immediate reaction to her was strong enough to provoke a jealous attack from the possessed Cordelia. It makes me wonder how he would've reacted to Buffy :-)
If I had to pick the 'shippiest Wes/Connor moment, I'd go for the time when Wes slashes open Connor's chest and daubs it with Cordelia's blood, trying, in their misunderstanding of the situation, to break her hold over him. It was a powerful, emotionally intense moment and it always felt to me as if Wes was grateful for the chance to be the one to bring Connor back to them.
