Fine essay--of course! I like the point you make that Q goes to Janeway to solve *his* problems, not to seduce her. My partner and I watched "Deja Q" recently, and I described your reading of the episode to her, and she agreed completely. I hadn't noticed for instance that Human!Q's jokes simply aren't funny, and he's even outwitted by Worf. And of course that he's terrified and the crew is being completely insensitive. My kids used to love that episode when they were much younger, always referring to it as the episode where Q is naked. :-)
Thanks for the plug for the book, Sweetie. I got my first copy of the real thing today and have to admit it was pretty exciting. It's my one and only, so I'm going to enjoy it. :-) And Q gets a whole chapter to himself, unlike any of the other characters. And of course Q was the inspiration for the whole idea more than 10 years ago in the first place.
