Kirk and Spock are so undeniably inseparable and devoted to one another, it's hard to miss, isn't it? How many fandoms give you canonical lines like, "You are closer to the captain than anyone in the universe," and "If Spock has an eternal soul, then it's my responsibility... as surely as if it were my very own"?
