Great essay! I've never really been into ST:TOS slash (mainly because I watched it heavily as a child, so I've never re-thought my ideas about the characters. Same way with SW and Han/Leia). I've read some Spock/McCoy, but that was because I liked the author.
Your essay makes me want to continue further into the fandom, as well as re-watch the shows and movies. Which I will do as soon as I am done with this project.
