When they are a part they are confused and uncertain. But together they become a force to reckon with.
Their ending may be bittersweet (although I have heard that the creators did mention that they think Hitomi would at one point return to Gaea), but it was perfect, because their love transcends distance. They just have that much faith and love in each other. And that speaks more to me than any sappy “I love you” and dramatic kiss. They don’t need promises. All they need to know is that the other is happy and they are content.
Yes. Exactly. I loved that their bond was strong enough to show how necessary they were to each other and made themselves individually stronger, rather than have it consume and weaken their characters. It's part of why I loved the ending of the series, too.
