I really wanted to root for this pairing on the show, but I was also really distracted by the constant dropping of anvils on our heads. Scenes like the one with the two of them in bed with connor, planning their fairytale future. No anvils required, it was just sweet. If only they'd played that aspect more I think the writers could have avoided the fan-backlash they received.
I appreciate the fic recs too, I'm putting together an Angel resource and was in desperate need of more links so that's great.
I'd also love it if you would allow me to archive this essay at the site (Deep In (http://www.fangedfour.com/deepin). This could really help writers identify a few of the canon problems with the pairing and avoid them in their own writing. A great resource.
