Wow, that was an excellent run down! It covered nearly every aspect of their relationship, and succinctly at that. The comparison of Vetinari to Machiavelli and Hobbes is very interesting and, in my opinion, quite accurate. Also, I'd love to recc this on my LJ, if that's permissible.
Meh, those lines about Vime's pick-n-mix theory in The Fifth Elephant really annoyed me the first time I read them. My exact thoughts were something like "NO!!! There's yet another strike against semi-canon V/V slash, blast it!" But the good thing is, I have a flagrant disregard for canon, so it doesn't pose a huge problem ^_^
It's so nice to find another person who supports and sees the plausibility in V/V slash! The pairing is terribly under-supported (there are what, maybe a half dozen V/V fics out there? I hope to change that in the near future.) and needs everyone it can get. I'm happy to have stumbled upon you :D
