Oh God...and I thought I was only one of a few who felt the fading potential of Jacob/Bella. I am so ecstatic over stumbling across this! Thank you for writing it. You express close-to-exactly how I feel about these two extremely well.
I was all 'waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahzomgEdwardandBella4eva' when I first read Twilight too. I thought Edward was so damn perfect and was disappointed when he was absent for most of New Moon. However, by the novel's end, I wasn't sure Edward's return made me all that happy but I couldn't figure out why.
I didn't take too much notice of Jacob until Eclipse but good grief- I love Jacob so muchly now. Like you, I tend to go for the underdog couplings- there's something so appealing about their expected doomed fate :p But Jacob/Bella also satisfies me so much more than Edward/Bella, who are nothing but a weird, unnatural, obsessive pairing in my eyes these days.
The more I think about it, the more my heart aches for Jacob and yearns for Bella to see things my way. Why would you go for the dead, stone figure when you could have someone alive and real??
Sigh. My mind's all frazzled at the moment- it's too early for me to function- but I just had to comment on this. Wonderful stuff, thanks again.
