Sure CLAMP never breaks ships, but they sure as hell like to wink at us while saying "No!" They do it for the fanservice. So yes, maybe Fuuma/Subaru was never meant to be cannon, but they (CLAMP) can't help themselves from getting slashy with almost every scene they do with almost every character they have.
