...evocation of the show, its world, and Jeremiah and Kurdy. :blissful sigh: If I hadn't already been recruited a few months ago by "Because I Told You So", followed by your other vids, sealed by getting the DVDs, this essay would have done it. As it is, it's not only reminded me of the joy I get from this pair, but given me insights to ponder on them both. Thank you!

I have to admit I have no trouble slashing them despite Kurdy's attraction to women. Those long road trips together in the first season, when they're isolated and in continual danger, give them the grounding of trust and dependence that sees them through all the later events and their personal fracture. Moreover, in a way, they're ultimately matched in being survivors in a world where surviving is itself a rare victory. It's never to be taken for granted and is an achievement neither Elizabeth nor Libby manages, with Libby's betrayal compounding Jeremiah's pain. When you've lost as much as Jeremiah and Kurdy have between them, knowing one person you love is as much a survivor as you are, and rock solid dependable, suggests the possibility of seeing the other as something of a safe haven--though that's only one of many ways to approach to J/K.
