Just quirks about Balthier's reactions--he shrugs off Fran being hit with debris, yet gets uppity and irritated at a smarmy, gross Rozarrian prince? Especially when she nearly passed out in Pharos--he just tells her to get up in the JP version. Him not asking for payment when he offers to take Ashe to Archadia was a huuuuuuuuge thing that I wonder how I didn't catch. I mean, he JUST took her husband's ring, dammit, and now he's offering, for free, to bring her to the Empire? *headdesk* If that's not indicative of something. . .
