(I seriously think that one of the few ways Fitz could ever leave the Doctor, other than through his own death, would be through watching his Doctor regenerate into Nine.)
gave me a horrible thought: What if it didn't happen that way. What if instead, before his own regeneration, the Doc had to see Fitz die? That'd surely mess him up at least as much as destroying his home planet. After all, he'd done that before....
