Great essay. Hawkeye and Trapper were one of my earliest slash pairings - this would have been when I was 12 or 13, before I knew there was such a thing as online fandom - but I don't think I've ever read fic about them. I'll definitely check out some of those links (and I need to buy or rent the DVDs.)
