It's a great essay, but I don't see how you can pretty much ignore S7 in it, especially with the breeches of trust that were never really adressed or healed. But especially the Parents aspect of Lies My Parents Told Me and Buffy explicitly barring her bedroom door to her parental (substitute) unit. This following him giving a very parental 'I want better for you' talk re the SO in the 'offspring's life.
