Well, it´s because Relena is one of the most annoying, blatant Mary Sues in canon EVER, that´s why the pairing is hated. I like the women of Gundam Wing, I REALLY like them (even Lady Une)- except for her. Everytimes she turns up and everybody just loves her for totally unknown reasons, I feel the urge to bang my head against the wall. It´s not so much her looks or the fact that she´s a girl, it´s her character that annoys the hell out of me.

The pictures are pretty, though. ;)

Like not to be mean, but I don't agree with you at all, like I feel that we probably view the series and characters in extremely different and opposed ways, but I am sick of fighting with this fandom over a character that I quite frankly love and adore (and no not because I think she is perfect or not flawed), and I am sick of having to justify myself to this fandom and having this fandom try to make me feel bad for it, and while I respect that you don't like her, I don't really want to get into it here, because well I am tired of getting into it period.

Arguments over pairing preferences have honestly been a big reason why I ended up leaving fandom in general. Because a lot of people either couldn't respect each other's opinions and feelings or just couldn't have mature debates regarding them.

That said, I'll be honest, that in the beginning I couldn't stand Relena. But, this was.. I have no idea how long ago. Back when it was aired on Cartoon Network? I was really turned off by her behavior and wished someone would grant her wish already. But, as I recently watched the series again, I grew to respect her, and now I adore her. I do adore the Heero/Relena pair too. My top pairing with Gundam Wing is Heero/Duo, but I'm also pretty fond of Heero and Relena as well.

I think it's horrible and unfair for fandom to make you feel like crap regarding pairings. And I'm sorry you've gone through that. :\ But on a positive note, thank you for sharing links and pictures! The one above is really pretty. ♥ Also, sorry for rambling quite a bit here~ ^^; I tend to talk too much sometimes, hehe.

Me too. I didn't even want to become more involved in the fandom after seeing all the Relena hate. Truthfully, she didn't give a first impression, but that was sort of the whole point. She was meant to grow and mature into a very capable woman. She's one of my favorite anime characters.
