This manifesto is fantastic. I read it a couple of years ago, and now that I've returned to the fandom, I've read it again and still think it's awesome. Succint, to the point, very organized and very sharp in analyzing their complex bond and their complicated minds.

I'm primarily a RoyEd shipper and mostly equal opportunities Ed shipper (with anyone, anything and everything, really), and Elricest is very relevant to my interests as well. I think the first anime (and specially the movie) clearly showed that the anime staff were closet Elricest shippersXD, since there are so many clues and hints to it (there's also massive amounts of, at least, one-sided!RoyEd, but that's another thing entirely). I suggest an update with the movie info, since Heidrich deserves a section for himself (the whole "our souls will encounter each other no matter in what world we are" thing that CLAMP declares that Soulmates in Tsubasa Chronicle)

This was so good, in fact, I'd LOVE to see an Elricest manifesto based on the manga, whose story is significantly different, as are the characters, motivations and bonds. I think it'd be harder, since Arakawa is not a closet ElricesterXD, but very interesting, since I find their interactions and relationship more balanced, equal, uplifting and mature in the manga than the first anime. In the first series, they were each other's weakness, as much as each other's strength, and they usually brought out the worst in each other (in a very interesting way; Al triggered all the guilt buttons of extremelly angsty first anime Ed, and Ed embodied Al's obsession in the movie). Al's characterization is completely different as well, being more realistic as an "only a year younger" brother (by the end of the first anime, he behaved much much younger than Edward). In the manga, they're the voice of reason for the other, and they usually find strength TO LIVE for the other, rather than sacrifice for his sake. But then again, "sacrificing for others" is something Arakawa clearly frowns upon, seeing it selfish and arrogant

Anywya, awesome work, sorry for the manga babbleXD
