I admit I am probably so taken by Elricest because I understand the concept of loving a sibling to death.
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, my only brother and I are very not-close. I find the fact that siblings, that Ed and Al, can be so totally devoted to eachother incredibly fascinating, because, as much as I would love to, it is something I'll likely never get to experience. Due to this, I at first was attracted to Elricest in a more platonic sense of love, which eventually grew into turning me into a full-fledged Elricest lover and supporter. With Ed and Al's relationship, I can experience a sibling relationship I'll never get. And while I definately do not want to have sex with my brother, I see the sexual portion of Elricest as Ed and Al's love in an even more "pure" and devoted form, making the experience all that much sweeter.
