They have the ability, now, to take one another down off those old "first love" pedestals, and maybe grow just as close to the flawed, complicated beings they've grown into and now have a unique opportunity to get to know each other again as the heroes and adults they've become.

Gods, yes. In the midst of all the first-time, virginal, fan-girly squeeing, this is what I needed to read right now. I need to find a way of re-envisioning them for myself as adults who can meet, get to know each other again as friends and lovers and share those soul-wearying burdens that constantly sap their will to live.
