I hope I'm wrong when I read Kazuki/Juubei as Kazuki being on top, because that is certainly a disturbing thought. I don't mind KazukixJubei, I find them rather cute in the happily married sort of way, but my favorite flavor is definitely BanxGin.
When I see BanxKazuki and stuff of the sort, I often find myself wondering if I saw the same series as those people. Because really, I understand pairing up Ban with someone else than Ginji, it could happen. But Kazuki? Kazuki-han LIVES for Juubei and viceversa, period.
And yeah, about the pigeonholed issue... it's so sad because even if people write BanxGin, they'll most likely write OOC!fics or bad!fics (come on, Ginji throwing himself at Ban? Ban abusing Ginji? WTF).
I just noticed that you have a considerable amount of fiction at your site, so I think I'm going to let myself drown in the glory that is canon and then come back to squee a bit more ^_~
