This is such an excellent, well-drawn essay. There are lots of different possible flavours of Remus/Draco, and they can all be believable if written well. But for me personally, I think I pretty much agree with you here as far as how I like them 'shipped:

I'm sure it's clear that my take on the pairing is Draco-centric; I ship them because I think Lupin can offer Draco something that no other character can or will: the opportunity to make his own choices.

It's the '...can or will...' that sums it up for me, particularly set in present canon, where both sides of the war are preparing to move. The only other character I could see perhaps taking an interest in Draco is Dumbledore, however, Dumbledore has got so much on his plate, he might not even notice (or might not want to bother with) Draco's current situation. Remus seems to be a very good candidate to appeal to the boy, especially now that Lucius, the most influential force in Draco's life, is out of the way. And I imagine Remus has the patience to do it, too. ;)

This is a great read. I really hope lots of people who have never considered the pairing before give it a chance. :D
