I'll agree with you there, it is implied, it's just not definite. For me, I don't care either way; they never find out anyway during the game even if it was true. Siblings or no, I fully support Fayt/Maria.

(Albel/Fayt isn't my OTP like Fayt/Maria is, but it is a guilty pleasure pairing of mine too, heh.)
