The first time I read this, it was before I'd ever seen any Star Trek, and it left me thinking "OH MY GOD, HOW DOES THIS EXIST?" and also "OH MY GOD, MUST FIND IT NOOOOW."

It was actually a pretty long time before I finally saw any of it. But its so weird to reread this, now knowing the characters for myself. You did a brilliant job capturing just how amazing they are (not an easy feat, given their amazingness pretty much defies explanation!)

Also!

Roddenberry's own novelization of the film tells us it is Jim Kirk's thoughts he senses

lakfjsdlfjlsdfjsdjkgsdlgjsdklgjsdfj you should have seen the face I made when I (re)read this. I always wanted to believe that, and it was very much my head!canon, but I just couldn't quite convince myself that it WAS. I figured it was meant to be V'Ger who's thoughts he sensed. I never in a million years expected to have it confirmed that it was in fact Kirk. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH GUYS. HOW SO EPIC????
