I grew up watching Star Trek from a very early age and I've always loved it, with Spock being my favourite character. Had I been writing fanfic then, it would, undoubtedly have been 100% pure Mary-Sue ;-)

This essay was so very moving and compelling and beautifully reasoned; thank you.
