If by "interested" you mean like a crush, then there really isn't solid ground to work with. If they still feel for others. Then it makes me wonder what exactly would they feel for each-other. Compassion? Understanding? Benevolence? If so, It wouldn't go past friendship potential. Hmm. Then again, I've read so many bad interpretations, and the only way people seem to pull it off better, is if they forgot who they love and just move on.
