That very well may be true. I can totally see Ishida as the self-sacrificing noble sort of guy. At this point, he really wants Orihime to be happy--and as we saw in the SS arc, that meant he wanted Ichigo to stay alive so she wouldn't freak out. But the guy's had SO much trouble. It would be too bleak for a shounen to have Ishida unpaired at the manga's end and the Quincy line dying with him. I don't see anyone else he could be paired with at this time, given how much time Kubo has invested in his feelings for Orihime. I like Ishida/Nemu fic (you know that ^__^) but I don't see that couple happening--again, too dark.
