Wonderful essay, Killa. I've only seen the eps you sent me, but I've downloaded season two and now I'll have to watch it.
I agree with you completely about "Journey's End in Lover's Meeting." Lovely title aside, it was a terrific episode and the one which made me go see the slash potential in Jeremiah and Kurdy. Plus, I love JMS making the big black guy the poet with a love of words and language and books of all kinds. It's a wonderful flipping of racial stereotypes. That, along with the fact that Kurdy had the loving home, while Jeremiah's was rife with secrets and unvoiced tension, is one of the reasons I love JMS. He rarely, I won't say never, takes short cuts with his characters. There are almost always layers and nuance as your analysis of Jeremiah and Kurdy shows.
Kurdy is, in my subjective opinion, possibly the straightest guy I've ever tried to slash.
Given that you've written Kirk/Spock, that's saying a lot. /g/
But, yes, Kurdy's obvious love for women is one of the things that made it harder for me to imagine slashing these guys. However, your list of reasons why Kurdy could be persuaded is a good one. A persuasive one, in fact.
