The novels and the Knight of Aqualord manga are what really sold me on the pairing after I saw in the anime that it could work because both of those have a lot of sexual tension. I do think there is tension in NEXT, but it's nowhere near on the level that is in the novels or hell, the one-shot Araizumi manga (Medieval Mayhem) is much, much worse than even the novels regarding that. When I first got it and was flipping through the first couple of chapters I thought, "she's going to haul him into a room and have her way with him."
