Long after you wrote this, but I still thought I'd comment. This was a good read! I've not read any of the Eighth Doctor material (though I've seen the movie - it's too bad Paul McGann didn't get a longer onscreen tenure) but I will have to check it out at some point. Thanks for the write-up!
