X is so far removed from real life and so over-the-top melodramatic that any of the characters who have lost their one twoo wuv would never move on- look at Kakyou and Kamui. Or Hideki's landlady from CHOBITS. That's why this pairing could never work in CLAMP-world- it's likely to happen in real life in the situation you describe, but it deviates completely from general CLAMP- philosophy.
