(yay, let's talk about English class while I ignore my English homework! ♥)

Actually, I was taught that too, when I was doing persuasive essay writing, so I understand where you're coming from. However, the major difference I see between what I did and disproving another specific ship in a shipping essay is that you're not really going against another ship, but rather trying to prove that yours is valid.

In the instance I was doing my persuasive essay, I was writing about why the Venezulan government was corrupt (which I'm neutral about, but that was my topic) and my partner was trying to prove that it was valid. Thus, it was A vs. B thing, while you're not trying to prove that IchiRuki is better than IchiHime, right? ^~

Also, if you say, "This is why I think IchiRuki would work better than IchiHime," you're also openning other doors. Why would IchiRuki work better than RenjiRuki? IchiTatsu? Etc. Thus, to effectively disprove the main argument, you'd have to go IchiRuki vs. Ichigo & Rukia with other people (and you'd be lucky if that didn't start a fandom war. XD;;) While IchiHime would probably have the strongest evidence behind why IchiRuki wouldn't work, it's not the only one.

I can sympathsize with you about the disproving thing, since I am writing a manifesto right now that would require that. But because you did it in a somewhat ship-specific way, I didn't feel like it covered everything that would go against IchiRuki, thus weakening your argument.

(I hope that didn't come out as hostile, because I'm really sorry if it did. @_@ I'm just a really strange girl who enjoys discussing the finer points of English semantics/writing.)

As to the lenth-wise comment you made below, you probably shouldn't've worried about it. ^_^ When I wrote mine, it was 1000+ over the limit. I think it was only tacted in place after several manifestos spanning 5 entries, so they didn't want it to get that out of hand.
