Ennis is actually my surname, and in researching geneology I foudn it came from the work Inis, meaning "island" or "water meadow" (I'm thinking that might be a swamp?). Maybe it's incorrect to say Gaelic, and maybe I mean Irish? I'm not up on European languages, I must admit, and I assumed they were the same, but I'm probably wrong. I'll change that.
