I'm glad you enjoyed the manifesto -- and hurrah for Giles/Anya!
Two quick notes: the Jane Espenson quote was related to me by people who attended her Writercon appearance. A friend of mine asked her specifically about Giles/Anya; Espenson said that after Season Six, several people on the writing staff argued very strongly for Giles/Anya in Season Seven, but Joss said that he thought Giles with any of the younger characters was "icky." Of course Anya isn't *young*, but anyway... ;-)
There's still not a lot of fanfic about Giles/Anya, 4 years after I wrote this manifesto. To be honest, it's easier to pick one of the golden points of potential divergence -- early in Season Six; after "Tabula Rasa"; after "Hells Bells"; after "Grave" (which was the actual writers' argument); after "Selfless" or after "Showtime" -- and then develop worlds/AUs from there, than it is to write this unconventional couple in canon. Tell me what you're looking for, and I might be able to steer you to something!
